Northern hemisphere was not thought to be the top of the world but instead the bottom.<br /><br />Modern words:<br /><br />Pohjoinen = North<br />Pohjan tähti = North star<br />Pohja = Bottom<br /><br />so literally translated<br /><br />Pohjoinen = Direction of the bottom<br />Pohjan tähti = Star of the bottom<br /><br />Remember that ancient civilizations orginated from the southern hemisphere. Finnish language has some very old words.<br /><br />In Finnish mythology:<br /><br />Pohjan Akka, Louhi, Loviatar = Lady of the bottom<br /><br />Lovi = under world = transcendental state of mind = being high<br /><br />Falling into lovi = shamanic visionary trip = going to the under world<br /><br />Pohjola, Lovi = The underworld<br /><br />Seems that christianity turned the old mythology upside down. Gods became demons, and literally top became bottom. This assumption is based on observations, visual recognition and neural networks theory ect.<br /><br />I haven't found much previous research about this specifig area yet. I'm sure there is some.<br /><br />Do you have reading recommendations about this or something related. Ideas how to study and test this in practice.
